NEW YORK, February 17, 2022 — Aurie, a human-centered medical device company developing an automated reusable self-catheter system, announced today that the National Science Foundation has awarded Aurie with a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research grant.
The grant is a 24-month, $1mm award that is focused on core R&D efforts for the Aurie System. This award will help to accelerate progress towards a regulatory submission and expected market release in 2023. The grant will also fund partnerships with leading research and physical therapy rehabilitation centers. These partnerships, especially with physical therapy rehabilitation centers, will allow Aurie to live into its mission to actively partner with the disabled community to co-design products that improve independence, freedom, and health.
In addition to this Phase II award, Aurie raised $1.5mm in funding in late 2021 in a round that was oversubscribed by 20% due to high investor demand and has been recommended for a Department of Defense Spinal Cord Injury Research Program Investigator Initiated Award. The company plans to raise its seed round of financing in late Q2 2022.
